Broken to Beautiful!!
So today, I tackled a serpentine dresser that I have been avoiding. Why? Because it was all busted up and in rough shape. It needed fixing, was falling apart, and I didn't really understand why I even bought it. (i'm impulsive when it comes to furniture!)
I took off for the weekend and went to my sister's. Lots of laughter and lots of relaxation. (I needed both, and never seem to laugh as hard as I do when I'm with her!) I came home yesterday to a dresser with primer and stain on it. Polyeurethane was brushed on until it shined! The sides were all rebuilt and it was waiting to be painted! I could not WAIT to get to it this morning! My hubby had tightened it up and made it more pretty than I ever thought it could be. I painted it today and I love it! In my opinion, it would make a lovely vanity in a large bathroom. Or a statement piece in a living area. If my mom had her way, it would already be in a shipping crate on its way to Arizona to take residence in her bathroom!
After waxing it this evening, I stood back and looked at it. Really looked at it. This beautiful piece of furniture was once left out in the rain under a tarp and not valued for what it COULD be. I am so glad that my hubby saw the potential in it! I am usually the one who sees what something could be....but was pleasantly suprised by his vision! I love it. I truly do.
So, whoever purchases this beautiful piece of vintage furniture, will be getting something that had a lot of love poured into it. A lot of elbow grease and a lot of time.
I think it's one of the nicest pieces I have ever done, without doing the whole thing :) Thank you to my hubby, John! I appreciate him more than he knows <3
